In 2021, it is expected that the iPhones will have a smaller notch in some aspect – either a smaller vertical size, or a smaller overall width. However, in order to achieve the smaller notch size, smaller Face ID sensors will be required.

IPHONE 13 RELEASE
Having launched the iPhone 12, Apple will now focus on launching the iPhone 13, and while the smartphone may not be released until 2021, we’re already getting a hint as to what to expect.
Launch Date
The iPhone 12 will arrive in October 2020, followed by its mini and pro models in November 2020. Apple’s iPhones typically launch in September, but the iPhone 12 will be released in several stages.
Despite our expectation that Apple will release the iPhone 13 in September, it may need to rethink its release schedule to stay competitive.
It is expected that Apple will continue to offer four iPhones in 2021, with no changes to the sizes. These models will include a 5.4-inch iPhone mini, a 6.1-inch low-cost iPhone, a 6.1-inch Pro model, and a 6.7-inch Pro Max model.
In recent months, there have been a number of leaks and rumors about the iPhone 13’s possible design, from a clamshell-like the Galaxy Z Flip to a sliding screen idea that seems less likely to work.
iPhone SE 2 Plus
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to release a high-end iPhone without a Lightning connector in the second half of 2021. Apparently, Apple is not switching to USB-C, but rather dropping the port entirely for the device, which will offer a completely wireless experience.
MacRumors obtained an excerpt from Kuo’s research note with TF International Securities:
Apple will create more differentiation between the highest-end and high- end models. It will benefit the shipment of the highest-end model and iPhone ASP. Among new 2H21 iPhone models, we expect that the highest-end model would cancel the [Lightning] port and provide the completely wireless experience.
Apple is expected to launch a “iPhone SE 2 Plus” in 2021, with a full-screen design but no Face ID, resulting only in a small notch. Instead, Apple will integrate Touch ID into the power button.
Apple will launch the iPhone SE2 Plus in 1H21. We predict that the display size will be 5.5 or 6.1-inch. This model will adopt a full-screen design. The notch area will be smaller because of no Face ID support. The Touch ID will be integrated with the power button, which is located on the side.
